This course is a continuation of Lawyer Ethics in Mediation 101. The course is designed to introduce the student to generally accepted ethical principles that govern the conduct of mediators. Even though many states now have specific statutory or court annexed systems of Alternative Dispute Resolution that address ethical issues, the vast majority of Mediation still occurs in an unregulated environment governed only by the generally recognized ethical principles or guidelines. This course might be analogized to Torts I that we all studied in Law School wherein we learned the bedrock Tort principles that would guide us regardless of the particular state that we chose to practice.
